Has he rejected web shows and did it affect his career? “Not at all. The number of films I have done in my life, I may have rejected over 200 times the films I signed. And I don’t understand… career, for me, each day is a new learning and it has been the same for the last 40 years. From the age of five when we worked in the fields to earn enough money to buy our school books”.
Rajpal wants to continue to work on projects that have a universal reach. He said, “I am grateful to filmmakers like David Dhawan who gave me ‘Judwaa 2’ and ‘Coolie No 1’, and now I have ‘Hungama 2’ releasing soon. In times of Covid, I want my films and work to entertain and become laughter therapy that generates enough oxygen for the audiences”.
Rajpal has now added his father’s name to his and will be called Rajpal Naurang Yadav. So, what was the reason behind it? Rajpal said, “There is no specific reason. My father’s name has always been in my passport; it is just that now it will be seen on screen. Also, it only happened after Apoorva Vyas offered me a web series and a new film so I thought before Covid I was just Rajpal Yadav, and now that the whole world has turned into a small village let me use my full name. I don’t think anyone would’ve taken my father’s name so many times as it has been in the past few days and there is a similarity in the film ‘Father On Sale,’ that I am acting in which will reach to audience across the world”.
He adds, “I have acted in over 200 films in a span of 24 years of my career and never repeated any of my characters I played including ‘Jungle’, after which I was offered 50 roles and the reason projects offered by Apoorva Vyas is that no two characters have any similarity”.
