Citroen C5 Aircross SUV Launch Tomorrow: Five Things To Know – ZigWheels

Citroen is all set to kick off its India innings with the launch of the C5 Aircross SUV tomorrow on April 7. It will also mark Groupe PSA’s return to the Indian market. Pre-bookings are already underway for a token amount of Rs 50,000. It will be offered in two variants: Feel and Shine, and four colour options (three of which can also be availed in a dual-tone option). So here are the five things you need to know about the SUV ahead of its launch:

Chic Stance

The C5 Aircross boasts a tasteful crossover-like stance, with notable styling bits such as a dual-beam LED headlamp, LED DRL setup, a twin-slat split front grille, 18-inch alloy wheels, LED fog lamps, and an upright rear end with split LED tail lamps.

Loaded Cabin

The cabin is pretty funky with split AC vents that blend in nicely with the dashboard. It also gets several premium bits such as an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster display, a panoramic sunroof, foot-operated electric tailgate, air purifier, phone mirroring, mood lighting, and three individually adjustable rear seats.

Practicality is the name of the game with a boot space of 580 litres, with all the seats up. Reclining the rear seats forward bumps up that capacity to 720 litres, and folding the three individual rear seats increases it to 1,630 litres. Safety is covered by six airbags, ABS with EBD, blindspot monitoring, electric parking brake, reverse camera, and a grip control system with five modes.

Under The Bonnet

A sole 2.0-litre diesel engine delivering 177PS of power and 400Nm of torque will provide propulsion to the C5 Aircross, paired to an 8-speed automatic gearbox. It’ll also come with Citroen’s Progressive Hydraulic Cushion suspension system that’s claimed to prevent discomfort from bumps. It’s also called the ‘flying carpet’ effect.

Price Tag

The Citroen C5 Aircross is likely to be priced between Rs 28 lakh and Rs 30 lakh (ex-showroom). Don’t expect a massive difference between the prices of the two variants as both are fairly loaded.

The Competition

It will take on the likes of the Jeep Compass and the upcoming Volkswagen Tiguan facelift.
